چکیده
We would like to decompose a closed orientable 2-manifold with arbitrary genus g into a set of four-sided tessellants. The input surface is a triangular surface mesh representing a free-form shape. The search for canonical curves is done in two steps: finding initial curves by means of algebraic or geometric methods and improving them by using combinatorial optimization. Afterward, we perform the handle decomposition by slicing the surface along those curves. After flattening the surface on the plane by using the setting (a1b1a −1 1 b −1 1 ) · · · (agbga −1 g b −1 g ), we use the resulting parametrization to split the surface into four-sided patches. We approximate those patches by simple surfaces like Bézier in which we want to obtain global C 0-joints. The proposed methods will be illustrated by several numerical examples.

Implicitization of High Degree Tensor Product Cagd Entities
We focus on the implicitization of parametric CAGD entities which are supposed to be of tensor product type. The presented approach is featured by its ability to treat polynomial or rational splines having a great number of control points. For B-splines, we describe a method of exactly obtaining the Fourier coefficients without using quadrature rules. As for NURBS, a preprocessing step is neces...

We aim at splitting a given multiply connected polygon into a set of convex quadrilaterals. Our approach consists in repeatedly removing quadrilaterals from the given polygon. We will first derive theoretical results pertaining to quadrangulation of simple polygons from the usual 2-ear theorem. Unfortunately, that theorem holds only for simply connected polygons while we are interested in quadr...
متن کاملMaharavo Randrianarivony Tetrahedral transfinite interpolation with B-patch faces: construction and regularity
We provide a methodology for efficiently checking whether a tetrahedral transfinite interpolation is regular. From given four triangular surfaces in form of B-patches fulfilling some compatibility conditions, we generate a transfinite interpolation defined on the unit 3D simplex. An efficient subdivision scheme is provided for a B-patch in order to obtain criteria which are verifiable in a disc...
متن کاملCavity Generation of Connolly Surfaces for Subsequent Patchwise Chemical Polarizable Continuum Model Simulation
We focus on molecular cavities which are represented in the form of Solvent Excluded Surfaces. They are featured by having smooth toroidal and spherical surface blendings between the constituting atoms. The only inputs are the nuclear coordinates, the van der Waals radii and the probe radius. From those information, our purpose is to generate a patch representation of the resulting Connolly sur...
